The LPBank V-League 2025/26 has only completed 5 rounds, yet 3 head coaches have already left their positions in different ways, and at least 2 others are under pressure to be fired or resign.
Following a home loss in round 5 to Công an TP.HCM after initially leading by 2 goals, coach Phan Như Thuật voluntarily resigned and was promptly accepted by SLNA club leaders. Clearly, for many, losing a lead in such a manner is unacceptable, and the head coach must bear the main responsibility.
However, assigning all blame to coach Phan Như Thuật for this defeat and previous poor performances is unfair. SLNA’s squad is limited, with mostly young domestic players and foreign players not yet strong enough to carry the whole team.
In terms of pressure, coach Phan Như Thuật likely faces less than colleagues like Choi Won Kwon of Thanh Hóa and Lê Quang Trãi of HAGL. Up to now, both these teams have not won any matches in the 2025/26 season. Yet, replacing the coach may not necessarily be the best solution for these clubs.
Meanwhile, after unsatisfactory results, coach Nguyễn Anh Đức voluntarily submitted his resignation as head coach of Becamex TP.HCM, closing an emotional chapter with his hometown club.

It seemed that the away game against Thanh Hóa on October 2 was the last chance for coach Nguyễn Anh Đức after the team suffered 4 consecutive losses, but ultimately the former Vietnam national striker chose to step down.
Clubs like Thanh Hóa, HAGL, or even Nam Định, if deciding to make changes on the bench at this time, have many options. Besides considering foreign coaches, V-League teams can reach out to experienced domestic coaches currently available, such as Nguyễn Đức Thắng, Văn Sỹ Sơn, or Nguyễn Thành Công.
The chance for these coaches to return to the V-League is quite significant, as the head coach positions at many clubs in Vietnam’s top football league are becoming increasingly "heated."
After round 6 of the LPBank V-League 2025/26 this midweek, the league will pause so the Vietnam national team can focus on the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers against Nepal during the October FIFA international window. The V-League will resume with round 7 matches on October 18.
Round 6 of the V-League will feature thrilling battles between direct rivals at both ends of the standings, potentially deciding the fate of many coaches currently "under fire."
