The French star of Real Madrid achieves something unprecedented

Forward Eduardo Camavinga reached a memorable milestone in Real Madrid's victory over Kairat Almaty.

Real Madrid secured an impressive 5-0 win against FC Kairat in the second group stage match of the Champions League, with all four goals in the second half helping the Royal Club maintain a perfect winning record and temporarily hold second place in the group.

The brightest star was still Kylian Mbappe with a hat-trick, bringing his total to 13 goals in 9 matches this season, while also reaching 60 goals in the Champions League to climb to sixth place on the list of the tournament’s all-time top scorers.

However, Mbappe was not the only one to hit a significant milestone. Eduardo Camavinga came on for Aurélien Tchouameni in the 80th minute and scored with a header just three minutes later, making it 4-0 for Real Madrid. Notably, this was his first goal in the Champions League.

Camavinga is not known for his goal-scoring ability, and many would be surprised that this was his first goal in European competition. The match against FC Kairat was his 46th Champions League appearance, including 42 for Real Madrid and four for Stade Rennais. Throughout that time, he had five assists but had never scored, even in the 2024/25 season.

This goal was also only his fifth for Real Madrid. The last time Camavinga scored before this was in April 2025 during a 1-0 La Liga win over Alaves. The French star also scored once in the Copa del Rey in January against Minera. Before that, his previous goal was more than two years ago, in March 2022 against Real Sociedad.

Injuries and frequently playing in deeper positions limited his opportunities to score, despite a considerable number of appearances. Nevertheless, at age 22, Camavinga still has many chances to improve his record. He recently returned from an injury that disrupted the start of the season, and although there were rumors of him leaving Madrid in the summer, coach Xabi Alonso has never mentioned this possibility.

If he can add goal-scoring to his well-rounded game, Camavinga could become an extremely important player for Real Madrid. Fortunately for the club, Camavinga has a long future ahead, and his peak years are still to come.
