Midfielder Xuân Bắc earned an opportunity in the national team following his standout displays for the Vietnam U23 team.
On September 30th, head coach Kim Sang Sik announced the list of 24 players called up to the Vietnam national team for the fourth training camp of 2025, preparing for two matches against Nepal in the final round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers scheduled for October.
This roster features eight young talents from the U23 generation who recently won the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship and advanced through the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers, including: Trần Trung Kiên, Khuất Văn Khang, Nguyễn Hiểu Minh, Nguyễn Xuân Bắc, Nguyễn Thanh Nhàn, Nguyễn Phi Hoàng, Nguyễn Nhật Minh, and Nguyễn Đình Bắc. The inclusion of these young players promises fresh energy and more tactical options for the national team.
For Xuân Bắc, the central midfielder and key player of Vietnam’s U23 team at the Southeast Asian U23 Championship and 2026 Asian qualifiers, this marks his first career call-up to the senior national team. From being a little-known young player, Xuân Bắc has now become a new hope in Vietnam’s midfield, playing alongside outstanding seniors like Hoàng Đức, Quang Hải, and Hai Long...
About to make his debut for the Vietnam national team, the 2003-born player expressed his joy at earning the trust of coach Kim Sang-sik: "I feel very honored and proud. Being called up to the Vietnam national team for the first time is truly a special and indescribable feeling for me."
As a young player, Xuân Bắc continues to strive daily to become a better version of himself, "My goal during the national team camp is to learn as much as possible from the senior players, so I can improve my skills and develop myself," Xuân Bắc added.
According to the plan, the Vietnam national team will regroup on October 4th in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for the two matches against Nepal. The first leg will be held at Gò Đậu Stadium on October 9th, while the second leg will take place at Thống Nhất Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City) on October 14th, 2025.
