Southeast Asian media buzzes with excitement as Vietnam’s national team prepares to add Geovane Magno and Janclesio, two Brazilian-born naturalized players, expected to bring fresh strength to the squad.
Source Seasia Goal recently reported that the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) along with head coach Kim Sang Sik have officially submitted an application to the Ministry of Justice to assist with the naturalization procedures for two Brazilian foreign players currently playing in the V-League. This is seen as a crucial step to strengthen the Vietnamese national team in the upcoming period.
The two players proposed for naturalization are Geovane Magno (31 years old, attacking midfielder, currently playing for Ninh Binh FC) and Janclesio (32 years old, central defender, also part of Ninh Binh FC). Neither has Vietnamese bloodline, so to be eligible to represent the national team, they must complete the naturalization process through residency.
According to sources, both Geovane and Janclesio meet the residency and playing time requirements in Vietnam, having been involved in the V-League since 2019. Over this extended period, they have not only proven their skills on the field but also expressed a strong desire to commit long-term to Vietnamese football.
The naturalization of foreign players has attracted significant attention among fans. With Geovane, a creative attacking midfielder, and Janclesio, an experienced and reliable central defender, the Vietnam national team is expected to gain quality options to enhance the squad.
Seasia Goal also emphasized that this move is part of coach Kim Sang Sik’s strategy to build the team for major regional tournaments. The inclusion of seasoned V-League players will add depth to the squad, especially in positions currently lacking internationally experienced personnel.
The approval process is currently in the hands of the authorities. If successful, Geovane Magno and Janclesio will become the newest naturalized players in Vietnamese football, following precedents like Xuan Son. This is expected to be a significant boost contributing to the national team’s quality in the near future.
