Leverkusen and PSV share points in a thrilling chase

Leverkusen continued to apply pressure with fast-paced attacks. Tillman was very active, firing shots in the 21st and 24th minutes, but still couldn’t beat the familiar figure: goalkeeper Kovář. Notably, the Czech keeper currently plays for PSV on loan from Leverkusen, and he performed as if eager to prove himself against his parent club.

After the break, the scenario remained largely unchanged with Leverkusen maintaining control. Coach Kasper Hjulmand constantly urged his players to push forward. Their efforts were finally rewarded in the 65th minute. Following a defensive mistake inside PSV’s box, Christian Kofane quickly intercepted the ball and calmly finished to open the scoring for Leverkusen at 1-0.

However, the home team’s joy was short-lived. Just seven minutes later, Ismael Saibari leveled the score. Taking advantage of space outside the box, the Moroccan player curled a beautiful shot into the far corner, leaving the Leverkusen goalkeeper helpless.

In the final minutes, both teams pushed forward seeking a decisive goal. Grimaldo remained central to Leverkusen’s play, while PSV relied mainly on quick counterattacks. Nevertheless, the forwards’ lack of finishing and the excellent performances of both goalkeepers kept the score locked at 1-1 until the final whistle.
