Paris Saint-Germain hero Goncalo Ramos sent a powerful message to Barcelona and Lamine Yamal following the 2-1 win at Montjuïc in the Champions League.
The reigning Champions League champions staged an impressive comeback as Ramos came off the bench to score the decisive goal in the 90th minute, following a brilliant play on the right wing by Achraf Hakimi. Earlier, PSG fell behind in the 19th minute after Ferran Torres scored from a Marcus Rashford assist, but young talent Senny Mayulu equalized in the 38th minute, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.
Despite facing heavy pressure and numerous injuries, the French side not only secured all three points but also responded sharply to pre-match provocations. Right after the final whistle, Goncalo Ramos said in a post-match interview: “I believe we deserved to win. We played better than them. We played our own way. If you want to be the best team, you have to prove it on the field rather than just talking..”
Although he did not name anyone directly, the entire public understood this as a direct reply to Lamine Yamal, the player who hinted that PSG would “suffer a heavy defeat” following Hakimi’s statement. That claim has now backfired, as PSG left Montjuïc with the victory and a spirit even stronger than the result itself.
The Portuguese forward chose the perfect moment to strike back. His goal in the second half helped PSG complete the comeback and stands as proof of the philosophy “actions speak louder than words.” Despite the win, Ramos remained determined, adding: “We want to win every trophy again. We are not satisfied with last season’s achievements. We want even more.”
After the match, coach Luis Enrique expressed full satisfaction with PSG’s response through performance rather than words: “We played a very good game. The start was tough as Barca controlled possession, but we scored and regained confidence. In the second half, I think PSG played better.”
Notably, these comments came despite PSG missing several key players due to injuries such as Dembele, Marquinhos, and Kvaratskhelia. Yet, the PSG squad stepped up at the right moment, especially under pressure from the stands and Catalan media. Besides Ramos, Nuno Mendes was one of the standout performers for PSG in this match. He emphasized the team’s mental strength:
“It was a tense match but we always believed in ourselves. We had many injuries but those who came on played excellently. Even missing many key players, PSG showed their work ethic..”
