In October 2024, Vinícius reached the peak market value of his career at 200 million euros, tying with Haaland as the top in world football. However, since Mbappé joined Real Madrid, Vinícius lost his primary attacking role, is no longer the club's main star, and after missing out on the 2024 Ballon d'Or, his value has shrunk by a quarter from 200 million to 150 million euros. This steep decline happened within just one year, resembling a rapid collapse. Currently, Vinícius’s situation at Real Madrid is somewhat awkward: Mbappé has been scoring heavily, netting 13 goals and 1 assist in 7 La Liga and 2 Champions League matches; meanwhile, Vinícius has contributed 3 goals and 4 assists in the same number of games.

In my personal opinion, Vinícius still possesses strong athletic ability and is at least one of the top two active left wingers in football. Actually, the best fit for Vinícius would be Liverpool. With Díaz transferring to Bayern this summer, Liverpool lacks a potent attacking threat on the left side. Meanwhile, Salah on the right is aging, and Wirtz is better suited as an attacking midfielder. Liverpool needs an explosive offensive player like Vinícius. Staying at Real Madrid, Vinícius can only serve as Mbappé’s deputy, making the Ballon d'Or essentially out of reach.
