Coach Cesc Fabregas has expressed his views on the chance to manage a leading Premier League team amid speculation surrounding Manchester United.
After the first seven matches of the 2025/26 season, Manchester United continues their poor form that previously led them to finish at their lowest ever position in the Premier League last season.
So far, the "Red Devils" have only secured two wins, with their most painful defeat being a shocking loss to fourth-tier Grimsby Town in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
This dismal performance has naturally raised many doubts about the future of coach Ruben Amorim. Numerous sources suggest that Manchester United's management is seriously considering dismissing him if results do not improve soon.
One of the names mentioned as a potential replacement for Amorim is the Arsenal and Chelsea legend, Cesc Fabregas. The former Spanish midfielder has also clearly expressed his desire to manage a club like Manchester United.
After a 20-year career with 16 major trophies, including the Premier League, EURO, and World Cup, Fabregas retired in July 2023. Shortly after, he was appointed head coach of Como's U19 and B teams, then four months later took over as interim first-team coach. By July 2024, Fabregas officially became the head coach and quickly impressed many, attracting attention from several big clubs.
In an interview with Sky Sports in August 2023, Fabregas openly stated: “The Premier League is the goal. It’s the biggest dream for any coach. But I keep working on improving myself. I have full confidence in my coaching philosophy and learn new things every day. Time will tell if I have what it takes.”
Earlier, when collaborating with Jack Wilshere at Arsenal’s U18 team, Fabregas also affirmed his ambition: “One day, I definitely want to be the head coach of a major Premier League club, even in the Champions League.”
However, if he returns to England in the near future, Manchester United is unlikely to be Fabregas’s first choice. In 2024, the former Spanish international candidly remarked that the "Red Devils" are “missing something” and even suggested the club often “ruins” players like Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, and Sofyan Amrabat.
