The 1-1 stalemate with The Cong Viettel in the 6th round of the 2025/26 V-League did not prevent Ninh Binh FC from reaching a historic milestone, as they pushed their undefeated run to 30 games and claimed the lead in Asia.
On the evening of October 2nd, Ninh Binh FC drew 1-1 with The Cong Viettel in the 6th round of the 2025/26 V-League. Although coach Gerard Albadalejo’s team regretted not securing a full 3 points at home, they still achieved an unprecedented milestone: 30 consecutive unbeaten matches (counting only regular time).
According to statistics, before this round, Ninh Binh and Arkadag (Turkmenistan) were fiercely competing for the longest unbeaten streak in Asia. However, Arkadag recently lost 0-2 in the AFC Champions League Two, stopping at 29 matches. Thus, the Hoa Lu-based club officially became Asia’s number one, marking a historic moment for Vietnamese football.
Coach Gerard Albadalejo commented after the match: “The Cong Viettel is a very well-organized opponent, maintaining a tight formation. We had chances to finish the game with a win but missed the second goal. The whole team needs to learn from this to avoid dropping points in upcoming matches.” He also praised midfielder Duc Chien, who played hard despite facing his former club Viettel.
Besides setting a continental record, Ninh Binh also enjoyed success domestically. During this match, the V-League organizers presented the September awards for the Vietnamese National Championship. Ninh Binh club won two titles: Best Team, and Coach Albadalejo Castano Gerard was honored as the Best Head Coach of September. This recognition reflects the Hoa Lu club’s consistent performance with a win against Nam Dinh and a draw with Hai Phong last month.
Currently, Ninh Binh leads the V-League standings with 13 points, becoming one of three unbeaten teams this season (along with The Cong Viettel and CAHN). With their impressive unbeaten run and stable playing style, the Hoa Lu club is emerging as a top contender for the 2025/26 V-League championship.
