Is the Three Lions squad overflowing with wealth? Two billion-euro players left out, even the Premier League's top assist provider is excluded

The Three Lions are truly brimming with talent nowadays, a phrase that could be described as dripping with riches. After this weekend's European matches, the October international break is approaching. England’s official squad has been announced, led by Bayern’s striker Kane, with the recently recovered Saka and the on-loan Barcelona standout Rashford included, while two English players valued over 100 million euros were left out: Bellingham at 180 million euros and Foden at 100 million euros. Also omitted was Grealish, who currently leads the Premier League assist chart this season with 4 assists.

England’s squad for the October international fixtures:

  • Three goalkeepers: Pickford from Everton, Dean Henderson from Crystal Palace, and Trafford from Manchester City
  • Eight defenders: Dan Burn from Newcastle, Guehi from Crystal Palace, Reece James from Chelsea, Konsa from Aston Villa, Skelly from Arsenal, Wirtz from Leverkusen, Spencer from Tottenham, and Stones from Manchester City
  • Six midfielders: Elliott Anderson and Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest, Jordan Henderson from Brentford, Çiçek from AC Milan, Rice from Arsenal, and Rodgers from Aston Villa
  • Seven forwards: Bowen from West Ham, Eze and Saka from Arsenal, Gordon from Newcastle, Kane from Bayern, Rashford from Barcelona, and Watkins from Aston Villa

Note: Palmer is absent due to injury.

In my opinion, Bellingham’s exclusion is understandable given his poor form, but leaving out Foden and Grealish, who are both in great form, is simply baffling!

England only has one World Cup qualifier in October, playing away against Latvia at 02:45 Beijing time on October 15; plus a friendly away against Wales at 02:45 Beijing time on October 10.

England dominates Group K in the European World Cup qualifiers with five wins from five matches, currently leading by 7 points, securing first place and direct qualification to the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Perhaps Tuchel is using this period to experiment and assess players!
