On October 4th, the Vietnam National Team and U23 Vietnam officially convened for the October FIFA Days period.
After the 6th round concluded on the evening of October 3rd, the V-League 2025/26 will take about a two-week break to allow the Vietnam National Team and U23 squad to assemble and prepare for FIFA Days.
Today, October 4th, the Vietnam National Team, led by coach Kim Sang Sik, gathered in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for two matches against Nepal on October 9th and 14th. The team will have five days to acclimate to the weather and training facilities before their first match.
For this gathering, the Korean coach has selected 24 players, including 8 from the U23 squad and one newcomer, Pham Gia Hung (Ninh Binh). The blend of youth and experience is expected to provide depth and balance to the squad, ensuring continuity while maintaining stability in playing style. This also aligns with the team's long-term strategy to build a new generation squad aiming at important upcoming goals.
Before assembling, all players are reported to be in good physical condition and form. Players like Hoang Duc, Tuan Hai, Tien Linh, and Van Khang have all scored goals for their clubs in recent rounds.
Alongside the National Team, the U23 Vietnam squad, under interim coach Dinh Hong Vinh, will also gather and train in Hanoi starting October 4th. The U23 lineup remains largely unchanged, primarily consisting of players who recently competed in the Southeast Asian U23 Championship and Asian U23 qualifiers, such as Viktor Le, Thai Son, Van Thuan, and Ngoc My. Additionally, coach Dinh Hong Vinh is giving chances to two new overseas Vietnamese players, Vadim Nguyen and Tran Thanh Trung.
After a few days of training in Hanoi, U23 Vietnam will depart for a training camp in the UAE starting October 7th. There, the team will play two quality friendly matches against U23 Qatar on October 9th and 13th respectively.
