Ruben Amorim responds to criticism from MU legends: 'My system has no flaws!'

Ruben Amorim – the head coach of Manchester United – has responded to criticism from former legends Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville, while admitting he "cannot avoid the results" as he faces mounting pressure to retain his position at Old Trafford.

Amorim defends the tactical system deployed at MU

This weekend, MU will host Sunderland at home as Amorim faces the threat of losing his job after a poor start to the Premier League season: losing 3 of the first 6 games and being eliminated from the Carabao Cup following a defeat to Grimsby.

Earlier this week, former player Wayne Rooney said he "has no faith" in Amorim’s ability to reverse the situation at MU. Meanwhile, another MU legend, Gary Neville, criticized the Portuguese coach for being too stubborn and conservative by sticking firmly to the 3-4-2-1 formation.

In a press conference ahead of the Sunderland match, Amorim affirmed: "That’s normal. You cannot escape the results. And then you have to carry the burden from last season. But for me, last season is no longer important."

Increasing pressure ahead of the Sunderland match

Amorim also acknowledged that he and his players are under significant pressure ahead of the upcoming match against Sunderland, a team currently performing well.

"This will be a very challenging game," he said. "They are playing excellently, very confidently, and clearly we will be under pressure. We need to know how to perform in such circumstances and we are ready."

On another note, Amorim confirmed that MU will pay tribute to the victims of the deadly attack at a Jewish synagogue in Manchester during the upcoming match.

"We live in a crazy world with too many things like this," he shared. "Of course, we extend our deepest condolences to the victims and will honor them during tomorrow’s game."

The match between MU and Sunderland will take place at 9 PM tonight, October 4th (Vietnam time). MU is currently 14th in the Premier League standings, while Sunderland is 6th.
