Huỳnh Như scored to secure TP.HCM I’s position at the summit of the national women’s championship with just 2 matches left.
Round 8 featured a clash between TP.HCM I and Thái Nguyên T&T. Another victory would allow Coach Đoàn Thị Kim Chi’s squad to widen the gap over their closest rivals in the standings. After the kickoff, TP.HCM I surged forward but faced strong resistance from Thái Nguyên T&T.
The southern team’s efforts paid off early in the first half. In the 34th minute, captain and forward Huỳnh Như delivered a precise finish to open the scoring for TP.HCM I. In the 3rd minute of added time, Ngô Thị Hồng Nhung shone by doubling the lead for the team from the city named after Uncle Ho.
In the second half, Thái Nguyên T&T tried to find an equalizer. However, in the reunion with her former team, Mỹ Anh and Bích Thùy were unable to make an impact. Ultimately, TP.HCM I defeated Thái Nguyên T&T 2-0.
In the other match, Hà Nội faced Than Khoáng Sản Việt Nam (Than KSVN). National team striker Phạm Hải Yến opened the scoring for Hà Nội in the 17th minute. Although the capital’s team played well, defensive mistakes cost them dearly. In the 80th minute, Trúc Hương scored the equalizer for Than KSVN, ending the match 1-1. Thus, both Than KSVN and Hà Nội trail the leader TP.HCM I by 4 points.
With only 2 rounds left in the 2025 national women’s league, TP HCM is on the verge of claiming the title. Securing at least 3 points in the remaining matches will guarantee Huỳnh Như and her teammates the championship.
Although Hà Nội won the championship after the first half of the season, TP HCM has maintained extremely consistent form in the subsequent rounds and quickly took the lead when given the chance. If they win again this year, TP HCM will set a record with 15 national titles, including 10 championships in the past 11 years.
