With the latest Brazil squad announcement, Carlo Ancelotti has sent a clear message to Endrick: if he does not leave Real Madrid to play regularly, his chance to represent Brazil will disappear.
The Italian coach has revealed the preliminary Brazil national team roster for upcoming friendlies against South Korea and Japan. Familiar names such as Eder Militao, Vinicius, and Rodrygo remain included, while key players like Alisson Becker, Marquinhos, and Raphinha are absent due to injury. However, the biggest focus is on Endrick being excluded from the list.
The young Brazilian player has been sidelined for five months due to injury, though he recently returned to training and was named by Xabi Alonso in the matchday squad against Villarreal. Despite this, it was not enough to convince Ancelotti. The Selecao coach believes consistent form and fitness only come when a player gets regular club playing time.
“We need players who have good match rhythm, play weekly, and are ready to contribute to the national team,” Ancelotti emphasized during the squad announcement press conference.
Endrick does not meet these criteria. At Real Madrid, he is almost forgotten on the bench, as Ancelotti prefers to use Vinícius, Rodrygo, and newcomer Kylian Mbappé in the attack. In this context, the 18-year-old striker’s chances of playing are increasingly limited.
In fact, Brazil has many quality options in the forward position. Besides Vinícius and Rodrygo, Ancelotti also has Estevão, Martinelli, Matheus Cunha, Igor Jesus, and Neymar Jr. Therefore, to regain a spot on the national team, Endrick must find a new club where he can play more regularly.
In a previous conversation with legend Romario, Endrick expressed his biggest fear: “I’m afraid I won’t make it to the World Cup. It’s my biggest dream to wear Brazil’s jersey and win the sixth world championship.”
Now, that dream is at risk of being crushed if he continues to stay at Real Madrid. Although still regarded as a precious gem of Brazilian football, Endrick is at a crucial point to decide his career path. A loan deal or even a transfer to a mid-level European club might be the only way to keep his World Cup hopes alive.
Endrick is only 18, but his future is clouded. If he doesn’t find his form soon, the “wonderkid” once expected to be Brazil’s future could become another sad example of young talent wasted at Real Madrid.
