While awaiting Nguyễn Xuân Sơn’s comeback, Vietnam’s national team is likely to gain a naturalized striker with extensive experience who was once the V-League top scorer: Rimario Gordon.
Head coach of Vietnam’s national team Kim Sang Sik recently expressed his desire to naturalize striker Gordon Rimario – the Jamaican forward currently playing for Đông Á Thanh Hóa. The Korean coach regards Rimario as a center forward who can make a significant impact for Vietnam’s national team due to his strong physical condition and impressive goal-scoring efficiency.
Rimario has been involved with Vietnamese football for nearly 8 years, playing for several clubs including HAGL, Hà Nội FC, Bình Dương, Hải Phòng, and Thanh Hóa. He earned the V.League top scorer title in 2022 with 17 goals, contributing to Hải Phòng’s runner-up finish that season. So far, Rimario has played over 120 matches and scored close to 60 goals in the V.League – figures that prove the consistency of one of the league’s finest forwards.
