Anisimova claims her first China Open women's singles title with a lucrative prize, WTA rankings shift: Zheng Qinwen drops again

On October 6th Beijing time, the 2025 China Open women's singles final wrapped up with American standout Anisimova winning a tough three-set match 2-1 over Noskova to claim the crown. This is Anisimova’s inaugural China Open singles victory, crowning her as the tournament’s top player. She captured her second WTA 1000 title and received $1.12 million in prize money, roughly 8 million RMB, achieving a remarkable double success!

Anisimova, a prodigious American talent, has had a breakout season, winning the Doha 1000 event and reaching back-to-back Grand Slam finals at Wimbledon and the US Open, though finishing runner-up in both. Thanks to her strong performances, her world ranking has surged to the top four. Her opponent in the final was world No. 27 Noskova, a major dark horse who caused an upset by eliminating Pegula and reached her first-ever 1000-level final!

Once the match began, Anisimova quickly adopted an aggressive approach in the first set, overwhelming Noskova who struggled to respond, allowing Anisimova to break serve repeatedly and take the set 6-0. Noskova fought back fiercely in the second set, winning 6-2 to even the match at one set apiece. In the third set, Anisimova surged again with sharp attacks breaking through her opponent’s defenses, closing out the set 6-2 and winning the match 2-1 to lift the trophy. Anisimova’s rise is truly meteoric, almost like riding a rocket—she outshines Zheng Qinwen and clearly possesses undeniable strength!

With Anisimova’s China Open victory, the latest world rankings have been updated, with the top five remaining unchanged: Sabalenka, Swiatek, Gauff, Anisimova, and Andreescu. Pegula moved up one spot to sixth, while Keys dropped to seventh. Zheng Qinwen, due to injury, withdrew early from this tournament and saw her ranking fall to tenth. Additionally, Zheng’s withdrawal from the Wuhan Open means she is on the verge of falling out of the top ten altogether!
