The Wolves versus Brighton match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Molineux witnessing numerous dramatic moments: a red card for coach Vitor Pereira, an unbelievable own goal by goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, and a late header securing Brighton a point.

In the 7th minute, home fans were disappointed when Hwang Hee-chan rejected a shooting chance, opting to pass sideways instead, only for Lewis Dunk to intercept timely. Brighton responded in the 11th minute with a shot from Wieffer, but it was deflected out for a throw-in.
The atmosphere at Molineux grew tense when referee Jarred Gillett unexpectedly sent off coach Pereira in the 20th minute. The Portuguese manager protested vehemently over a foul on Andre that was not called. This decision further agitated Wolves’ players and fans.
However, just a minute after that incident, Wolves surprisingly went ahead. From Brighton’s indecisive corner defense, the ball fell perfectly for Munetsi’s shot. Goalkeeper Verbruggen made an excellent save pushing the ball against the crossbar, but unfortunately, it rebounded onto his hand and rolled into the net. This rare own goal triggered celebrations at Molineux while shocking Brighton.
The remainder of the first half saw Brighton trying to control the game but struggling to break through. Despite lacking direct coaching on the sidelines, Wolves maintained a solid defensive shape. The visitors only managed some yellow cards instead of dangerous shots.

In the second half, Brighton continued to hold more possession but still lacked efficiency. Wolves deliberately dropped deeper to protect their lead, conceding control and seeking chances on quick counterattacks. Yet, just when their first win of the season seemed within reach, Wolves lost it in the closing minutes.
In the 86th minute, from a quickly taken corner, the ball was accurately crossed into the penalty area where Jan Paul van Hecke rose powerfully to head the ball into Wolves’ net, leveling the score at 1-1 for Brighton. The goal silenced the Molineux crowd and energized the visitors. Brighton pushed for a winner in the final moments but failed to change the outcome.
The match finished 1-1, leaving Wolves frustrated as they remain winless after the opening fixtures of the season. Meanwhile, Brighton can be satisfied with a valuable away point, especially given their lackluster performance.
