Coach Hansi Flick is not overly disappointed even though Barcelona suffered a heavy 1-4 loss against Sevilla.
Barcelona's coach Hansi Flick made some rather unexpected comments regarding his team's 4-1 defeat to Sevilla at Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan, highlighting both the challenges and positive aspects of the match.
Speaking to Movistar+, Flick discussed the difficulties faced in the first half and the team's response. "In the first half, we conceded two goals, but we managed to respond with Rashford's goal. In the second half, we had chances to score a second goal, including a penalty. The key is to keep pushing for goals. The result is not good, but the team's reaction was positive."
He also commented on the team's performance in each half. "Everyone saw the situation in the first half; in the second half, we played better. We'll see how things go after the FIFA break,"Flick explained.
Despite the disappointing scoreline, the coach remains hopeful. "I am thinking positively, and we need to analyze the first half against a very strong opponent", he added. Regarding the refereeing, Flick declined to comment. "I have nothing to say about the referee," he stated.
Notably, this is Sevilla’s first victory over Barcelona in four years, and the first in La Liga in a decade. Without any points from round 8, Barcelona missed the chance to reclaim the top spot from their fierce rivals Real Madrid, trailing by 2 points.
With Yamal and Raphinha absent, Barcelona's attack couldn’t apply as much pressure as before, and defensive mistakes are costing them. This remains a weakness Barcelona has yet to fix since last season. This marks the second consecutive defeat for Hansi Flick’s side after a 1-2 loss to PSG in the Champions League.
