Pep Guardiola achieves a remarkable milestone, surpassing Sir Alex and Arsene Wenger

Coach Pep Guardiola has made history in the Premier League by setting an unprecedented record, overtaking many legendary peers.

Man City secured a hard-fought victory at Brentford's ground in the 7th round of the Premier League. Nonetheless, for Pep Guardiola personally, this result was enough to etch his name into the league’s history with a never-before-achieved record.

Specifically, according to statistics from the official Premier League website, Pep Guardiola became the fastest manager to reach 250 wins in the Premier League. The Spanish tactician reached this milestone after only 349 matches. In contrast, the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson of Man Utd took 404 games to reach the same achievement, while Arsene Wenger needed 423 matches. Former Man Utd manager and current Everton coach David Moyes required as many as 645 games to reach 250 victories.

Pep Guardiola officially took over as Man City’s manager in the summer of 2016 after leaving Bayern Munich. Since then, he has built one of the strongest and most consistent squads in Premier League history. Under Guardiola’s leadership, Man City has won six Premier League titles, including a streak of four consecutive championships from 2021 to 2024.

After surpassing many renowned names in Premier League history, Pep Guardiola expressed his respect for those colleagues.

Specifically, the 54-year-old coach shared: "It is an honor to stand alongside Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger. I will invite them to a lavish dinner. It’s wonderful to have my name recorded in Premier League history. I feel extremely satisfied. Now, let’s aim for another 250 wins!"

Erling Haaland erased Gtech Stadium from the list of venues where he had never scored, as it was one of only two Premier League grounds where he had yet to find the net.

Just eight minutes into the match, the Norwegian striker sprinted to meet a long pass from Josko Gvardiol, powerfully evaded two Brentford defenders—Sepp van den Berg and Nathan Collins—before delivering a precise angled shot that beat goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher.

That was Haaland’s 18th goal in 11 matches this season for both club and country. Currently, Anfield remains the only Premier League stadium where he has yet to score.

Following two consecutive losses to Tottenham and Brighton early in the season, Guardiola’s team is gradually regaining a stable rhythm. Man City is now unbeaten in their last four Premier League games and seven matches across all competitions. The three points earned at Gtech Community Stadium also lifted them to fifth place on the league table.
