Forward Marcus Rashford has provided encouraging information about his injury situation following the loss against Sevilla.
Barcelona caused a shock by unexpectedly suffering a defeat away at Sevilla in the 8th round of La Liga. Moreover, the Catalan club faced additional concerns about Marcus Rashford, who was injured after the match ended and required medical attention.
This incident caused great worry among fans, as Rashford has been one of the team's most impressive performers recently, while two other forwards, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, are also sidelined due to injuries.
However, there have been some initial positive reports about Marcus Rashford’s condition. According to journalist Carlos Monfort from SPORT, the 27-year-old striker does not seem to have suffered a serious or long-lasting injury.
“Sources within Barcelona confirm that Marcus Rashford’s issue was only a minor collision. Although he finished the match lying on the ground, there are no signs of a concerning condition,” Monfort shared on the platform X.
This is clearly extremely good news for Barcelona fans. After a turbulent week filled with injuries and two defeats against PSG and Sevilla, Rashford not having a serious problem brings great relief to the entire squad.
Now, attention turns to whether Rashford will be called up to the England national team for the upcoming international fixtures. Thomas Tuchel’s squad will face Wales in a friendly match before taking on Latvia in the World Cup qualifiers, where they could secure their place in North America next summer.
It is evident that Tuchel holds Rashford in high regard, as he has been included in the last three call-ups whenever fit. However, the German coach might consider not risking him, especially in easier matches like the one against Latvia.
This is certainly what Hansi Flick would prefer as well. Giving Rashford two weeks of rest would be the ideal scenario for the German coach and Barcelona’s coaching staff. After the break, the Catalan team will enter a demanding run of three matches against Girona, Olympiacos, and Real Madrid at Bernabeu in the first El Clasico of the season, all within eight days.
