Manchester United has a gentleman's agreement to sign a new Carrick for £65 million! Bayern's prodigy linked, idol Ronaldo

It is confirmed that Manchester United will reinforce their midfield next year without a doubt. Adam Walton from Crystal Palace is among the favored targets, with transfer specialist Ben Jacobs disclosing that a gentleman's agreement may facilitate the signing of this 21-year-old English talent by the Red Devils.

Jacobs disclosed that if Walton does not renew his contract with Crystal Palace next year, the gentleman's agreement will come into effect, allowing him to transfer for a fee between £60 million and £65 million. Data shows Walton has created the most big chances in the Premier League this season, despite having only one assist. Walton is often compared to Manchester United legend Carrick.

It is reported that a January move for Walton is almost impossible; Crystal Palace will only consider selling him next summer. Besides Manchester United, Liverpool has also been monitoring Walton, having sent scouts to watch his performances over the past three weeks. Walton himself may seek a move to a bigger club to elevate his status and earn a call-up to the England national team. He was omitted from Tuchel's England squad during the recent international break, which is believed to be linked to his current club Crystal Palace.

Among the three midfielders most frequently linked with Manchester United, Walton stands out for his passing and physicality, Bissouma excels in duels, and Elliott Anderson is the most well-rounded. Fans now think signing both Walton and Anderson offers better value than Brighton's £120 million-priced Bissouma.

Crystal Palace's current head coach Oliver Glasner is a leading candidate to replace Amrabat at Manchester United. If the 51-year-old Austrian takes charge, the chances of signing Walton could significantly improve. Walton joined Palace on February 1, 2024, from his parent club Blackburn for £22 million. Although Glasner was not the one who signed him—he was appointed on February 19—the two have developed a close working relationship.

Renowned transfer expert David Ornstein pointed out that failing to bring in a midfield recruit this summer is a key reason for Manchester United’s struggles this season. "As far as I know, United players still support Amrabat and believe in his plan, but it hasn’t been fully implemented, possibly due to psychological or mental issues. His system has been questioned, but I don’t think that’s the core problem. The No. 6 role is more urgent than the No. 9, yet it remains unresolved," he explained.

Insiders at Manchester United admit the squad currently lacks personnel capable of effectively executing Amrabat’s 3-4-3 formation, especially given the defensive weaknesses and midfield imbalance. These issues cannot be fixed with the existing players and must be addressed through future signings.

Many midfielders have been linked with Manchester United, such as Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, while Bayern Munich’s German player Alexander Pavlovic has also become a rumor topic this week. The 21-year-old is compared to Owen Hargreaves or Busquets.

German transfer expert Christian Falk stated that Pavlovic is also a dream target for Manchester United’s management.

"Is Pavlovic on the lists of Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Manchester City? Juventus and PSG haven’t made many moves, but English clubs are definitely interested," he said. "They have contacted Pavlovic through intermediaries, aiming to sign him, especially Manchester City. I’ve recently noticed his physicality improving and his confidence in his game growing. This suits English football well. A transfer isn’t possible for him at the moment, but he is a top prospect to join the Premier League in the future."

Of course, it is generally believed Pavlovic has no reason to join Manchester United at this time, even though Red Devils legend Ronaldo is one of his top three idols. Bayern’s contract with him runs until 2029, so there is no pressure to sell.
