Russian-Vietnamese midfielder Vadim Nguyễn expressed a mix of emotion and pride upon being called up to the Vietnam U23 team for the first time, shortly after transferring to play in the V-League.
On his personal page, Vadim wrote: "Some dreams are not just meant to be dreamed, but to be lived fully wearing this flag and colors. I am proud to be Vietnamese."
Born in 2005 in Russia to a Vietnamese father and a Russian mother, Vadim stands 1.75 meters tall, has strong physical fitness, and can play flexibly in multiple midfield positions—from central midfield to the wings.

He grew up in the FK Rostov academy, a club with a rich tradition in the Russian Premier League, and is highly rated for his good technique and modern style of play.
Regarding this new player, coach Đinh Hồng Vinh said: "We highly value Vadim Nguyễn. The coaching staff maintains regular communication with head coach Kim Sang-sik to develop the best criteria for selecting players for the team."
The acting head coach of Vietnam U23 also shared more about the coaching assignments:
"Whether the training camp is short or long, friendly matches or practice games, I assign detailed tasks to ensure smooth workflow and to reduce the awkwardness among team members."
According to the plan, Vietnam U23 will train at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center until October 6, before heading to the UAE for a training camp.
There, the team will play two high-level friendly matches against Qatar U23 on October 9 and 13.
This is part of a football development cooperation program between the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Qatar Football Association, launched in 2023. The program provides an important opportunity for Vietnam U23 to sharpen tactics, finalize the squad, and gain international experience.
Then, in November 2025, Vietnam U23 will compete in an international friendly tournament in China under a Memorandum of Cooperation signed by leaders of both federations in August 2025.
The tournament is expected to feature China U23, Vietnam U23, and two other strong teams from the continent, promising to be a significant preparation step ahead of key goals at the end of the year.
