After scoring the only goal that secured Man City's narrow victory over Brentford, Erling Haaland openly commented on the rather 'unusual' tactics employed by the team.
The Norwegian striker was the hero for Man City at Brentford in a tense and physical match. He compared Brentford’s playing style to the famously tough Stoke City under coach Tony Pulis.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the match, Haaland said: "It was a tough game, reminding me of Stoke City with Rory Delap about 15 years ago! They have very big players and use long throw-ins from midfield, so it’s not easy to handle. But we prepared well, analyzed thoroughly, and the coaching staff did an excellent job. All credit goes to them." He added that facing Brentford’s deep five-man defense "was not easy," making "this victory all the sweeter."
