Overseas Vietnamese in Europe moved by wearing the Vietnam U23 jersey

Vadim Nguyen, a promising young Vietnamese-Russian player, shared his pride when donning the Vietnam U23 jersey for the first time, emphasizing his ambition to serve the national flag and colors.

The young midfielder Vadim Nguyen has made a strong impression not only on the field but also in the hearts of fans with his emotional remarks upon wearing the Vietnam U23 jersey for the first time. On his personal page, the Vietnamese-Russian player expressed: “Some dreams are not just to be dreamed, but to be lived fully with this flag and colors. I am proud to be Vietnamese.”

Born in 2005 in Russia to a Vietnamese father and a Russian mother, Vadim Nguyen stands 1.75 meters tall and has excellent physical fitness. He is versatile, capable of playing multiple midfield positions from central to wing. Trained at FK Rostov, a club with a rich tradition in the Russian Premier League, Vadim is highly regarded for his technical skills and modern tactical understanding.

At the start of the 2025 season, Vadim Nguyen joined SHB Da Nang after an impressive trial period. He quickly adapted to the domestic football environment and delivered many outstanding performances in the V-League. This earned the 19-year-old player the attention of the Vietnam U23 coaching staff and high expectations from experts.

An important advantage for Vadim Nguyen compared to many other overseas Vietnamese players is that he already holds Vietnamese citizenship. This facilitates his integration process and opens early opportunities to represent the national youth teams.

In fact, Vadim was included by coach Philippe Troussier in the preliminary list of 50 players preparing for the 2024 AFC U23 Asian Cup. However, due to commitments with U19 FK Rostov in the Russian national league, he was unable to participate.

This October call-up holds special significance for Vadim Nguyen, marking an important milestone in his young midfielder career. He not only faces challenges in the international football arena but also has the chance to prove himself to compete for a starting spot at the 33rd SEA Games and the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup.
