Văn Trường confirms that U23 Vietnam will put in maximum effort during the two friendlies with U23 Qatar and further ahead at SEA Games 33 and the 2026 U23 Asian Cup.
After attending the launch event of the VFF App on the afternoon of October 6 at the Vietnam Football Federation, midfielder Nguyễn Văn Trường shared some insights with the media about the U23 Vietnam team’s current situation:
“About three months ago, we had quite a lot of matches and training sessions, participating in many tournaments organized by the Vietnam Football Federation, as well as competitions in China and a training camp in Vũng Tàu. Additionally, we also took part in the U23 Southeast Asia Championship.”Văn Trường added.
Speaking about the two upcoming friendly matches against the U23 Qatar team during the training camp in the UAE, Văn Trường said:“The coaching staff held meetings to thoroughly analyze both the weather conditions and the opponents of U23 Vietnam. The two friendlies against U23 Qatar in the UAE will definitely be very beneficial for the entire team.”
According to the draw results, U23 Vietnam is placed in Group A alongside host U23 Saudi Arabia, U23 Jordan, and U23 Kyrgyzstan for the 2026 U23 Asian Championship. Regarding the group, Văn Trường stated: “At the final tournament, all teams are equally strong. This is a competition for the continent’s top teams, so we just aim to step onto the field with a relaxed mindset and give our best effort.”
Commenting on Vadim Nguyễn, the new overseas Vietnamese midfielder of the U23 team, Văn Trường remarked: “We have only trained together twice, so it’s too early to fully evaluate, but since the coaches trust him, there must be something special about him. Personally, I find Vadim quite skillful, with good dribbling and natural talent.”
On October 7, coach Đinh Hồng Vinh and his team will depart for Qatar to prepare for the training camp and two friendly matches scheduled for October 9 and 14.
