Three Premier League giants are competing to sign the Barca star

One of the main issues Barca needed to address last summer was the situation surrounding Marc-André ter Stegen. The German goalkeeper has faced numerous challenges since the Catalan club brought in Joan Garcia.

Ter Stegen had openly shared updates about his injury recovery process. However, shortly after, he was surprisingly stripped of the vice-captaincy for refusing to sign a medical report. After apologizing and agreeing to sign, the German goalkeeper was reinstated by the club’s leadership.

Since then, Ter Stegen has continued to be sidelined following surgery to treat a persistent problem that has prevented him from maintaining consistency over several recent seasons. Even upon his return, it remains uncertain whether Hansi Flick will hand him back the starting spot.

According to sources from SPORT, several clubs have approached Barcelona to inquire about the veteran goalkeeper ahead of the winter transfer period. Notably, Premier League clubs such as Newcastle, Tottenham, and Manchester United have all contacted Barca directly to explore the possibility of signing Ter Stegen.

At present, the player himself understands that his chances of playing at Camp Nou are limited. With the World Cup approaching, Ter Stegen might consider leaving to reclaim his place in the German national team. However, he has not dismissed the possibility of staying and fulfilling the remaining two and a half years of his current contract.

Last summer, AS Monaco showed particular interest in Ter Stegen, and the club from the Principality still hopes to secure him. Nevertheless, the 32-year-old goalkeeper declined their offer. Most clubs want to sign him on loan with an option to buy, but Barcelona will not accept such an arrangement unless Ter Stegen himself expresses a desire to leave.

The coming months promise to bring more clarity regarding the German goalkeeper’s future. Currently, everything suggests Ter Stegen has one foot out of Camp Nou, but from now until the winter transfer window, the situation could still change in many ways.
