Đinh Xuân Tiến and Ngọc Mỹ are the two players who must say goodbye to U23 Vietnam due to injuries.
This morning (October 7), the U23 Vietnam team departed for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to train and play international friendly matches. This is part of the team’s thorough preparation plan aimed at two main goals: the 33rd SEA Games in December and the 2026 U23 Asian Championship finals.
Regarding the squad, there are two changes from the original list due to injuries. Midfielder Đinh Xuân Tiến suffered a thigh muscle overload, while forward Nguyễn Ngọc Mỹ sustained an injury to his right adductor muscle. Both had to stay in the country for treatment and recovery. The coaching staff called up Lê Đình Long Vũ (SLNA Club) and Nguyễn Lê Phát (Ninh Bình Club) as replacements.
Đinh Xuân Tiến attracted much attention after being recalled to U23 Vietnam. The top scorer of the 2023 U23 Southeast Asia Championship has faced challenges in regaining his form. After an impressive performance with Viettel, unfortunately, Đinh Xuân Tiến once again misses the chance to join U23 Vietnam.
With solid fundamental skills, strong finishing ability using both feet, and versatility in playstyle, Xuân Tiến is a highly promising striker for Vietnamese football. Previously, in the 6th round of the V-League, the Nghệ An-born forward scored a valuable goal that helped Viettel draw 1-1 against Ninh Bình.
During the training camp in UAE, the U23 Vietnam team will play two international friendly matches against U23 Qatar, scheduled for October 9 and 13.
The training camp in UAE is a crucial step in the comprehensive preparation plan set by the Vietnam Football Federation for U23 Vietnam. It aims to help the young squad continue developing, gain international experience, and strive for new achievements. This camp is also part of the football development cooperation program between the Vietnam Football Federation and the Qatar Football Association, signed since 2023.
