Malaysian Football Association: 'FIFA's results are inaccurate and baseless'

The Malaysian Football Association reiterates that FIFA's findings about the 7 naturalized players are inaccurate.

"The images provided are unofficial – FAM will file an appeal to FIFA", the official website of the Malaysian Football Association recently released the latest statement.

According to this, FAM confirms that FIFA's investigation results about the origins of the 7 naturalized players are inaccurate and unfounded: "The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) asserts that the description in FIFA's findings is incorrect. The allegations that the players 'obtained or were aware of forged documents' are unfounded as no credible evidence has been presented so far."

The association once again emphasized that the mistakes stem from administrative errors which they had previously acknowledged: "As explained earlier, the error occurred due to incorrect submission; this is an administrative mistake, where an employee accidentally uploaded documents from an agent instead of the official documents issued by the National Registration Department (JPN)."

"The official appeal is currently being prepared using valid original documents certified by the Malaysian Government. FAM will submit a formal appeal regarding this conclusion and remains committed to safeguarding the integrity of national football based on facts and authentic documents", the FAM homepage concluded.

The media and "Malayan Tigers" fans expressed extreme disappointment over how the Malaysian Football Association handled this matter. Many domestic experts believe FAM needs to clarify and be transparent about the players' naturalization documents. However, the Malaysian Football Association refused to disclose them. They stated:

"According to the Official Secrets Act 1972 and the Passport Act 1966, any disclosure of such documents or procedures without authorization is strictly prohibited. Therefore, FAM has a legal obligation to keep these matters confidential. Consequently, FAM will only share information related to FIFA for the purpose of this lawsuit," quoted from FAM's previous statement.
