A vital member of Man Utd is anticipated to make a comeback following an extended time out due to injury treatment.
Center-back Lisandro Martinez has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury back in February this year during Man Utd’s 0-2 defeat to Crystal Palace. This serious injury forced him to be sidelined for a long spell, only allowing him to resume light outdoor training in July.
According to The Sun, the Argentine star is currently undergoing individual training sessions in the final phase of his recovery. The "Red Devils" are reportedly considering reintegrating him into the squad after the November international break, depending on how well his injury progresses.
Although unable to play, Martinez has remained an important figure within the team. Over the past summer, the 1998-born star was included by coach Ruben Amorim among the team leaders due to his professionalism and significant influence in the dressing room.
Since joining Man Utd from Ajax in 2022, Lisandro Martinez’s career in England has been repeatedly disrupted by injuries. The 2022 World Cup winner has missed a total of 90 matches for both club and country, highlighting his unfortunate luck over the last three seasons.
After recovering from a foot injury in 2023, Martinez faced several other issues including recurring injuries, knee pain, and calf muscle strains before suffering a knee ligament rupture earlier this year, which required surgery.
As for Man Utd, the club is currently experiencing a poor start to the new season. Although the INEOS group continues to back coach Ruben Amorim after a disappointing half-season, hoping the Portuguese tactician can steer the team back on track, the situation remains concerning.
The "Red Devils" sit 10th in the Premier League standings, having lost 3 of their 7 matches and were quickly eliminated from the League Cup after a penalty shootout defeat to fourth-tier side Grimsby Town.
Pressure is mounting on Ruben Amorim. Despite support from the management, the 40-year-old coach faces a risky situation and must quickly deliver positive results to regain fans’ trust.
