Real Madrid's 100 million star has agreed to join Barca

Rodrygo disclosed he was close to signing with Barcelona before opting for Real Madrid, stating that choice enabled him to realize his childhood dream and shine at Real Madrid.

Forward Rodrygo Goes recently attracted attention by revealing he was very close to joining Barcelona, with “almost all procedures completed,” before changing his mind to sign for Real Madrid, the club he has always considered “the biggest dream of my life.”

In an interview with the Spanish outlet AS, the Brazilian star shared the pivotal moment in his career:

“Before signing with Real Madrid, everything with Barcelona was nearly finalized. I even had a draft contract signed. But then my father told me Real Madrid had reached out, and I had to choose. The decision was easy; I knew what I wanted and what my true dream was. I didn’t hesitate. And now I’m here.”

Rodrygo also admitted that without his father's advice, he might have taken a completely different path.

“When I was at Santos, I started playing well and Barcelona came calling. I have always respected them; they are a great club. But Madrid is my dream. When the opportunity came, I couldn’t wait any longer.”

Rodrygo’s love and loyalty to Real Madrid remain strong, especially as the Royal Club prepares for the upcoming El Clásico, a match that holds special meaning for him.

Last season, Real Madrid lost to Barcelona in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup, so Rodrygo is highly determined to help his team get revenge.

“When you sign with Real Madrid, you always think about winning the Champions League and scoring the decisive goal against Barça. Hopefully, this year we will achieve that,” he said with a confident smile.
