Former Manchester City and Spain forward Alvaro Negredo has forecasted that Cole Palmer could depart Chelsea in a significant transfer soon.
Since Pep Guardiola sold Cole Palmer to Chelsea in September 2023 for a deal worth up to £42.5 million, the English player has quickly established himself as one of the top talents in the Premier League.
In 101 appearances for the London club, Palmer has scored 45 goals and provided 29 assists, highlighted by a brace and an assist in the FIFA Club World Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain.
However, this season, the 23-year-old has struggled to maintain form and fitness due to recurring groin injuries, featuring in only 4 matches across all competitions.
According to former Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo, Palmer’s time at Stamford Bridge might be nearing its end, as he believes a major European club will soon try to sign him.
Palmer’s impressive form since leaving Man City has made him a target for many top European clubs. However, Negredo thinks there is only one ideal destination for Palmer if he leaves Chelsea, and that is Real Madrid.
“Cole Palmer is an outstanding player. Chelsea is a big club, but honestly, I think he fits perfectly at Real Madrid,” Negredo told CoinPoker.
“He has technique, finishing ability, stamina, and remarkable strength. At the world level, every club wants a player like him. I believe that by the end of this season or within the next two years, Real Madrid or another big club will make a move for Palmer.”
Currently, Palmer still has nearly 8 years left on his contract with Chelsea, extending beyond his 31st birthday after signing a two-year extension in summer 2024.
Therefore, if Real Madrid or any other club wants to acquire Palmer, they will have to pay a huge transfer fee, possibly exceeding £100 million, to convince Chelsea to let him go in the future.
