Erling Haaland continues to amaze the global football community with his outstanding goal-scoring performance in the 2025/26 campaign.
The solitary goal that secured Manchester City's victory over Brentford last weekend not only earned valuable three points but also brought Haaland closer to breaking numerous Premier League scoring records.
Right after the match, former legend Jamie Carragher referred to him as “the greatest goal scorer in the history of English football”, while Haaland himself affirmed that he “is currently at the peak of his career”. It’s hard to argue with that when the numbers speak for themselves with 18 goals in 11 matches for club and the Norwegian national team, raising his total goals in 2025 to 37. If he maintains this rate over the remaining 22 games of the year, Haaland could easily surpass 57 goals, the highest tally of his career in a calendar year.
In the Champions League, Haaland has also shattered Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record by becoming the fastest player to reach 50 goals, achieving it in just 49 matches, far quicker than Lionel Messi (66 matches) and Cristiano Ronaldo (91 matches). However, what excites Premier League fans the most is his imminent approach to historic milestones in this league.
The goal against Brentford marked Haaland’s 94th in only 104 Premier League appearances, a scoring rate that even legends like Alan Shearer, Harry Kane, and Thierry Henry admire. At his current pace, Haaland is predicted to reach 100 goals in roughly 110 matches, beating Shearer’s record by more than 15 games.
Statisticians have even made a precise forecast: if he continues his current form and avoids serious injuries, Haaland will surpass Alan Shearer’s record of 260 goals by September 2030. And if he remains at Etihad until his contract ends in 2034, the Norwegian striker could reach 389 Premier League goals, an almost “unbelievable” milestone.
At 25 years old, Haaland still has a decade of peak performance ahead. Unless anything changes, the day he breaks all the English goal-scoring records is likely just a matter of time.
