VFF speaks out regarding FIFA's sanction against Malaysia

Regarding FIFA's evidence about Malaysia's use of unauthorized players, VFF declared that it was not informed about any investigation process or decision related to the Malaysian team.

As previously reported, FIFA issued decision FDD-24394 concerning Malaysia's falsification of documents for naturalizing seven players. Notably, this FIFA ruling spans 19 pages, providing comprehensive proof of Malaysia Football Association's illegal naturalization practices.

Specifically, FIFA holds the original birth certificates of the seven naturalized Malaysian players. Compared to the altered documents used for illegal naturalization, none of these players' parents were born in Malaysia. According to the original birth certificates, their parents were born in Western countries such as the Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil, and Spain.

However, FIFA will maintain the original sanction against the Malaysia Football Association. Whether Malaysia will forfeit their 4-0 victory over Vietnam in June 2025 depends on the AFC's decision. It is likely that the case will be resolved by December after Malaysia completes its appeal process.

In an interview with Dân Trí, an official from the Vietnam Football Federation commented on the matter: “Neither FIFA nor the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has informed us about any investigation or ruling process regarding the Malaysian national team.” Another VFF official confirmed: "The investigation and decision-making processes of FIFA and AFC are entirely independent."

Although Malaysia is still gathering information to appeal, with the solid evidence recently released by FIFA, it seems the matter will be concluded soon. Clearly, the Malaysia Football Association tampered with documents for the seven players to naturalize illegally. The main concern now is whether Vietnam's national team will be awarded a 3-0 win over Malaysia for the June 2025 match.

Once FIFA's decision takes effect, the AFC Disciplinary Committee will review and decide on the FAM's violation. At that point, it will be officially clarified whether Vietnam will be credited with a 3-0 victory against Malaysia according to standard regulations.
