Coach Matt Ross showed strong resolve regarding Nepal's upcoming two games versus Vietnam in the Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers.
Before departing for Vietnam to prepare for these crucial matches, Coach Matt Ross gave an interview to The Guardian about the team's goals. The Australian strategist stated:
"The Nepal national team carries a significant responsibility. We are not asking the people of Nepal to support us; rather, we feel the need to deliver something to them. Perhaps no one expects us to achieve much in the upcoming two matches.
This is not just about tactics or physical fitness but about emotions and the reason why we are playing. I need to convey this so that we can create a miracle in one or both games. We must come back with something, at least 1 point, or even more."
Speaking further about Nepal’s previous matches, Mr. Matt Ross said:"We are not ranked 176th in the world without cause. I am here to help the team win and change that mindset. There are talents – when they have the ball, they are on par with players I have worked with before. What they lack are the tactical foundations that a proper academy system can provide, along with the mindset that comes with it," he encouraged his players.
According to the schedule, Nepal’s team will arrive in Ho Chi Minh City on the evening of October 7th. This means they will have only one day to prepare for their first match against Vietnam on October 9th.
