The U23 Vietnam squad is now at Hamad Airport, awaiting a transfer flight to the UAE to get ready for their next training session.
On the afternoon of October 7th, Vietnam time, the U23 Vietnam team reached Hamad International Airport (Doha) and is currently waiting for their connecting flight to the UAE. Coach Đinh Hồng Vinh’s squad is expected to land in Abu Dhabi at 4:20 PM local time.
Earlier that morning, Coach Đinh Hồng Vinh’s team departed. During their training period in the UAE, the U23 Vietnam team will play two friendly matches against U23 Qatar on October 9th and 13th. This is part of a thorough preparation plan aiming at two main goals: the 33rd SEA Games in December and the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup finals.
According to Coach Đinh Hồng Vinh, this is a valuable opportunity for the team to be tested and assessed, allowing the coaching staff to better evaluate the players’ potential, adaptability, and to identify additional quality players to report to Head Coach Kim Sang Sik, thereby preparing well for future training camps.
Before heading to the UAE, the team experienced personnel changes as midfielder Đinh Xuân Tiến suffered a thigh overload, while forward Nguyễn Ngọc Mỹ sustained an injury to his right groin muscle. Both had to stay in the country for treatment and recovery. The coaching staff called up Lê Đình Long Vũ (SLNA Club) and Nguyễn Lê Phát (Ninh Bình Club) as replacements.
