The Football Association of Malaysia has been shortlisted for an important accolade from the Asian Football Confederation.
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has recently been included by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) among the nominees for a distinguished award recognizing community football activities, specifically in the AFC President's Recognition (Silver) category.
According to the announcement, FAM is one of the three final candidates in this category, competing against the Guam Football Association and the All India Football Federation. This nomination reflects AFC’s acknowledgment of the development programs and community-focused initiatives that FAM has implemented recently.
Meanwhile, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) also appears on the nominee list, but in the Bronze tier of the same category, alongside Bangladesh and the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association.
In addition to the federation nominations, a Malaysian football player is also listed in a major category. Specifically, Malaysian winger Arif Aiman Hanapi has been nominated for the AFC Player of the Year 2025 award, where he will compete against notable players such as Akram Afif (Qatar) and Salem Al-Dawsari (Saudi Arabia).
The winners of these categories will be announced at the AFC Awards Riyadh 2025 ceremony, scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on October 16, 2025.
