Manchester United is close to finalizing a significant top-level deal by hiring Ameesh Manek, ex-Arsenal COO, to enhance managerial capabilities and reorganize the operational framework at Carrington.
Manchester United is set to officially appoint Ameesh Manek as Director of Football Operations, a key role in the club’s new management structure. Manek will be directly responsible for overseeing daily activities at the Carrington training center, including travel arrangements, security, facilities, as well as managing personnel and infrastructure for both the men’s and women’s teams.
Ameesh Manek joined Man United from Brentford, where he served as Chief Operating Officer and was recognized for effectively bridging corporate governance with professional football. Previously, he worked at Arsenal overseeing academy and first team operations from 2015 to 2020 before moving to Brentford, contributing to the club’s stable operation in the Premier League environment.
Manek’s appointment follows the completion of a £50 million upgrade project at the Carrington complex, designed by the renowned architectural firm Foster + Partners. The new facility includes fitness areas, hydrotherapy pools, medical rooms, open social spaces, and even a dedicated barbershop for players. This development is seen as a crucial step to improve the working environment and optimize performance after previous complaints from stars like Cristiano Ronaldo about outdated facilities.
With extensive organizational experience, Ameesh Manek is expected to bring professionalism and systematic management to the “Red Devils” operations. He will report directly to Sporting Director Jason Wilcox and work closely with head coach Rúben Amorim to ensure smooth execution of training plans and player development.
Meanwhile, co-chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe affirmed that coach Amorim still has full trust despite inconsistent results. “You cannot run a club like Manchester United on impulsive reactions. We need time to rebuild from the ground up,” Ratcliffe stated.
The arrival of Ameesh Manek is considered a strategic piece in Manchester United’s comprehensive restructuring plan, where the ambition to restore the club’s “football empire” image is gradually taking shape through quiet but determined steps.
