Serge Gnabry recently made notable remarks regarding his future with Bayern Munich.
Although Gnabry’s contract with the Bavarian club runs until June 2026, the German player emphasized that he is not rushing to decide whether to stay or leave, preferring to focus on delivering his best performances this season.
After two seasons affected by injuries and inconsistent form, Gnabry is gradually restoring his reputation in the 2025/26 season. The 30-year-old star has scored 3 goals and provided 3 assists in the first 6 Bundesliga rounds, along with 2 more assists in the Champions League and German Super Cup. His impressive displays have earned him a spot back in the German national team under coach Julian Nagelsmann, proving he still has the quality to compete at the highest level.
However, his future at the Allianz Arena remains unclear. In an interview on the ZDF Sportstudio program, Gnabry stated: “I’m not overly concerned about my contract. I feel very comfortable in Munich, with the club, the team, and the people here. Right now, I just want to focus on playing well. As for the future, let time provide the answer.”
The German midfielder also admitted that he has started to consider the next phase of his career: “I’m already 30 years old, and a football career doesn’t last forever. Sometimes I wonder if I should seek a new challenge. But at the moment, I’m enjoying every moment on the pitch.”
This suggestive statement has sparked speculation among German media that Gnabry might leave Bayern at the end of the season, especially as the club is undergoing a squad overhaul following the departures of Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman last summer.
With his form rebounding, many Bayern fans believe Serge Gnabry deserves a new contract. However, some argue the club should look for fresh talent in attack since Gnabry is entering the latter stages of his career.
Although his future remains uncertain, currently Serge Gnabry is demonstrating professionalism and a strong desire to contribute, just as he said, “focusing only on the present to perform at his best”.
