TP.Hồ Chí Minh I could not secure the championship early as they were held to a tie by Than KSVN in the 9th round of the National Women's Football Championship – Thái Sơn Bắc Cup 2025.
A 4-point lead over chasing teams like Than KSVN and Hà Nội gave TP.HCM I confidence heading into the penultimate round. However, coach Đoàn Thị Kim Chi’s squad faced a significant challenge from Than KSVN. The mining region team made things difficult for the reigning champions. In the first half, both sides struggled with finishing and went into halftime scoreless at 0-0.
In the second half, TP.Hồ Chí Minh I pushed forward aggressively but still lacked sharpness and a bit of luck to break the deadlock. Conversely, Than KSVN missed several chances to close in on the top spot. The match ended in a 0-0 draw, leaving Hà Nội with an opportunity to catch up if they win their final match in round 9.
Meanwhile, Thái Nguyên T&T showed strong determination against a struggling Phong Phú Hà Nam this season. Although Phong Phú Hà Nam recently earned their first win, it did not improve their form. They continue to face challenges during this transitional phase.
In this match, several key players of Phong Phú Hà Nam, such as Tuyết Dung and Trần Thị Duyên, were absent from the starting lineup. At the 34th minute, the turning point came when young talent Đỗ Thị Thúy Nga scored the opening goal for Thái Nguyên T&T. The teams went into halftime with the tea region team holding the advantage.
In the second half, Thái Nguyên T&T maintained dominance on the field. It was not until late in the half that coach Văn Thị Thanh’s squad added more goals. At the 89th minute, Lò Thị Hoài scored to make it 2-0, followed by Nguyễn Thị Bích Thùy sealing a 3-0 victory for Thái Nguyên T&T during stoppage time.
Although they have not secured the championship early, TP HCM I still control their fate, needing only a win in the final round to guarantee the title. If they win again this year, TP HCM will set a record with 15 national championships, including 10 titles in the past 11 years.
