Premier League newcomers' goal involvement this season: Kudus leads with 6 goals, three players tied for second with 5 each

With the Premier League on hold for the October international break, Transfermarkt refreshed the top ten ranking of new signings' goal contributions (goals plus assists) through the first seven rounds, where Tottenham's Kudus stands out with 6 involvements, and three others are tied for second with 5 each.

Top 10 Premier League newcomers by goal involvement this season:

  • 1st: Kudus (transferred from West Ham to Tottenham for €63.8 million), involved in 6 goals.
  • Tied for second: João Pedro (Brighton to Chelsea, €63.7 million), Grealish (loaned from Manchester City to Everton), Jadon Anthony (Bournemouth to Burnley, €9.5 million), each involved in 5 goals.
  • 5th place: Ekytik (Frankfurt to Liverpool, €95 million), involved in 4 goals.
  • Tied for sixth: Woltermade (Stuttgart to Newcastle, €75 million), Yokres (Sporting CP to Arsenal, €65.8 million), Reinders (AC Milan to Manchester City, €55 million), Diouf (Slavia Prague to West Ham, €22 million), and Xhaka (Leverkusen to Sunderland, €15 million).

From my perspective, the Premier League still prefers signing players proven within the league. The top four on this list are all internal Premier League transfers. Looking at Liverpool’s €125 million signing Wirtz, who has zero goals and one assist in his first 10 matches across all competitions, it shows that the Premier League’s physicality and pace are not suitable for every player.
