England national team star faces a terrifying injury

England striker Ollie Watkins was substituted at halftime after narrowly avoiding a potentially serious injury.

During the match against Wales in the early hours of October 10th, England forward Ollie Watkins alarmed fans following a dangerous collision in the first half.

In the 39th minute, the Aston Villa player lunged to tap the ball in at the far post but unfortunately struck the goal frame hard. The impact caused his leg and knee to become trapped in a very awkward position, with his entire body weight pressing down on the joint, making the situation extremely perilous.

The 29-year-old lay motionless on the pitch for several seconds, causing great concern among teammates and coaching staff. Medical personnel quickly rushed onto the field to assess him, while his teammates gathered around showing clear signs of distress.

Fortunately, Watkins’ injury was not as severe as initially feared. He was able to stand up and limp away from the goal area, even attempting to continue playing the remainder of the first half despite not being at full fitness. After the break, coach Thomas Tuchel decided to replace him with Marcus Rashford, who has been revitalized at Barcelona with seven goal contributions in eight matches across all competitions.

Watkins was given a starting opportunity due to Harry Kane’s injury preventing him from playing. Before leaving the field, he made good use of this chance by scoring to put the “Three Lions” ahead 2-0. Nevertheless, Kane remains the focal point in Tuchel’s attacking system, having scored or assisted 20 times in just nine games for Bayern Munich this season.

In contrast to that form, Watkins is struggling at the Premier League with only one goal for Aston Villa so far, as Unai Emery’s team continues to search for offensive momentum.
