Coach Thomas Tuchel acknowledged his dissatisfaction with the England supporters following the victory against Wales.
The England stars demonstrated overwhelming strength with a convincing 3-0 win against Wales in the recent friendly match.
Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins, and Bukayo Saka helped the "Three Lions" take a three-goal lead within just 20 minutes. However, Tuchel expressed sadness over the subdued atmosphere in the stands, noting that the Welsh fans' singing was clearly audible while some home supporters even left early.
Tuchel emphasized that his team deserved much more enthusiastic support from the fans, especially as they are very close to securing a spot in the 2026 World Cup.
Speaking after the match, the German coach stated: "What more could you ask for when the team scored three goals in just 20 minutes and played an exciting attacking game against Wales? On the opponent’s half, we repeatedly regained possession. But sadly, for the following half hour, only the Welsh fans’ cheers were heard, while my team deserved far greater backing today.
We had only a day and a half to prepare against a well-organized team, but the players performed excellently. Our first half was truly impressive, leading 3-0 early on and could have been 4-0 or 5-0 before the break.
It was a fantastic display, but after failing to score a fourth or fifth goal, the atmosphere became quiet. Everything went silent. We no longer felt energy from the stands, despite the players’ efforts to inspire the crowd. Nevertheless, the whole team stayed focused in the second half, played brilliantly, and deserved the win. This is a positive step forward on our path."
Besides the atmosphere issue at Wembley, Tuchel also praised Morgan Rogers, the star who opened the scoring for England with a brilliant performance.
He added: "He is a genuine number 10, always fighting to secure his place in the team. Currently, he is in good form, an important link, and progressing well in his development."
The victory over Wales is seen as a perfect warm-up for the "Three Lions" ahead of their away match against Latvia in the sixth round of Group K for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. This match will take place at 1:45 AM on October 15.
