As early as the 8th minute, U20 Morocco scored a fortunate opening goal thanks to an own goal by Shin Min Ha, allowing the red-shirted team to lead 1-0. This early goal gave U20 Morocco a more relaxed mindset, focusing on solid defense and quick counterattacks.
In the second half, despite U20 South Korea’s relentless pressure to equalize, U20 Morocco still achieved what they needed. In the 58th minute, Yassiri Zabiri rose high to head in a powerful shot that beat the U20 South Korea goalkeeper.
Though trailing by two goals, U20 South Korea fought tirelessly. Final statistics showed they dominated in shots with 14 attempts compared to Morocco’s 10, creating 3 major chances. Nonetheless, their lack of finishing and Morocco’s focused defense rendered their efforts fruitless.

It was not until the final added minutes that U20 South Korea’s efforts were rewarded. At 90+6 minutes, Kim Tae-Won successfully converted a penalty after Smail Bakhty handled the ball, narrowing the score to 2-1. However, this goal came too late, as the final whistle blew shortly after, ending Asia’s representative’s hopes in the tournament.
U20 Morocco’s win exemplifies how efficiency can triumph over possession dominance. Despite having fewer shots on target, their precision in finishing and ability to capitalize on chances secured their advancement. U20 Morocco will now enter the quarterfinals to face Morocco, while U20 South Korea must say goodbye to the competition after a hard-fought journey.
