Kylian Mbappe speaks out in defense of Lamine Yamal amid controversies

In a discussion on Universo Valdano, Kylian Mbappe voiced support for Lamine Yamal, whose personal affairs have been repeatedly overexamined by the press.

Being one of the most outstanding players at just 18 years old, it was inevitable that Lamine Yamal would come under media scrutiny regarding his private life. In this context, Kylian Mbappé, the Real Madrid star, spoke out in defense of the young colleague during an interview with Jorge Valdano on the program ‘Universo Valdano.’ In the interview excerpt, Mbappé was firm in his remarks about Yamal:

“I believe it’s clear he has a passion for football, and that’s the one thing he must never lose. The rest is his personal life, but people have started digging too deeply into it. I think everyone should leave him alone and accept that on the pitch he is a fantastic player, but off the field, he is just an 18-year-old boy. And at 18, anyone can make mistakes, and there are times when you get things right or wrong.”

Mbappé further emphasized: “He [Yamal] will gain life experience and learn what is good for him and what is not. Ultimately, we only need to focus on what he does on the pitch; the rest doesn’t matter unless it’s serious. He is a highly talented player, and I hope he follows the path he desires. I wish him the best of luck.”

This statement once again highlights Mbappé’s sportsmanship and noble character. Although he and Yamal belong to two of Spain’s biggest rival clubs, Mbappé holds no personal grudge against his opponent. Even in recent direct confrontations where Mbappé has mostly been defeated by Yamal, it hasn’t diminished the respect he has for the young talent.
