Arsenal has decided to let the world's best crosser leave.

Manchester City legend David Silva confirmed that Santi Cazorla, ex-Arsenal midfielder, was the finest crosser he witnessed, also lamenting that the "Gunners" released him prematurely.

During his peak years playing at the Premier League, David Silva frequently faced Arsenal. At his prime, the Spanish midfielder was the "maestro" of Manchester City's attacking play, helping shape one of the club’s most successful eras. Although he retired in 2023 after his stint with Real Sociedad, Silva is still remembered as one of the greatest "magicians" in English football history.

Recently, in an interview on the Champions League media channel, Silva was asked who the best crosser he had ever seen was. Without hesitation, he replied: “Santi Cazorla!” - emphasizing his admiration for his compatriot who once played for Arsenal.

Silva added that Cazorla could cross equally well with both feet, a rare skill in modern football. “He can deliver perfect crosses with either his left or right foot, whether in open play or set pieces. Every ball from Cazorla could turn into a scoring chance,” Silva stated.

Santi Cazorla spent six years at Arsenal, from 2012 to 2018, leaving a mark with his technical, intelligent, and creative style of play. Despite being only 1.68 meters tall, Cazorla always troubled opponents with his dribbling, passing, and finishing skills using both feet. He is regarded as one of the most talented midfielders Arsenal ever had.

However, Cazorla’s career at Arsenal was severely disrupted by a prolonged Achilles tendon injury, forcing him to leave the club in 2018. Afterwards, he returned to Spain to play for Villarreal, then Real Oviedo—his hometown club where he still plays at age 40. Despite his age, Cazorla continues to feature regularly in La Liga and is respected by teammates for his professionalism.

In the eyes of Arsenal fans, Cazorla remains a beloved icon. He is fondly remembered for his bright smile, magical feet, and the beautiful goal against Hull City in the 2014 FA Cup final—a trophy that ended Arsenal’s nearly decade-long drought.

Coach Mikel Arteta—Cazorla’s former teammate at Arsenal—has revealed his desire to bring him back to the club as a coach. “Cazorla has incredible energy and knowledge. If he wants to return, Arsenal will always welcome him,” Arteta once shared.
