Vietnam National Team 'trained in the rain' after their victory over Nepal

The Vietnam National Team showed strong spirit even after achieving a crucial victory over Nepal in the 2027 Asian Cup qualification round.

In the third match of Group F in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, the Vietnam National Team displayed overwhelming strength with a comfortable 3-1 win against Nepal.

During the 90 minutes at Binh Duong Stadium, Coach Kim Sang Sik prioritized using key players rather than giving chances to new or younger players. Despite the eventual win, the Korean coach showed his determination to advance through the qualifiers with a notable move.

Specifically, Coach Kim Sang Sik instructed players who had limited or no playing time to continue training their fitness. The Vietnam stars did not hesitate to "train in the rain," making the most of the time after the match to regain their touch after sitting on the bench.

Among those who took part in this special training session, only Thanh Nhan and Duc Chien had playing opportunities, while Van Khang, Hieu Minh, Nhat Minh, and Phi Hoang all remained sidelined. This quartet has been key players for Vietnam U23 in recent campaigns and are expected to be Coach Kim Sang Sik’s hopes for SEA Games 33 and the 2026 U23 Asian Championship.

For the Vietnam National Team, this victory not only helped fans forget the loss to Malaysia in the second round but also allowed the "Golden Star Warriors" to keep pace with their rival for the top spot in Group F. Currently, Coach Kim Sang Sik’s squad is in second place with six points, three points behind Malaysia.

Therefore, if they want to claim the top position from their opponent, the Vietnam National Team must secure maximum points in the next two matches against Nepal and Laos before the decisive final match at home against Malaysia.

Looking ahead, the Vietnam National Team will focus on their upcoming match against Nepal in the fourth round of Group F in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. This game is scheduled for 7:30 PM on October 14th.
