On October 11 Beijing time, the Snooker Xi’an Open proceeded with the round of 16 completed last night. Three Chinese competitors pushed for the quarterfinals, securing 2 victories and 1 defeat. Ding Junhui and Lü Haotian moved on to the quarterfinals, alongside O’Sullivan, Mark Williams, Puran, Wells, Murphy, and Gary Wilson!

This Xi’an Open has been full of upsets, with many top sixteen players being knocked out, including Zhao Xintong, Trump, Selby, and Kyren Wilson. The Chinese team, competing on home soil with a strong lineup, faced harsh reality — despite numbers, quality was lacking. Only three players reached the last 16: Ding Junhui, Lü Haotian, and He Guoqiang!
He Guoqiang faced Gary Wilson in the round of 16, but the match quickly turned one-sided. He Guoqiang struggled badly and was overwhelmed by his opponent, losing decisively 0-5 and suffering a heavy defeat!

Ding Junhui’s opponent was Reigns. Ding was in exceptional form, playing fluently and dominating the match from start to finish. His precision was unstoppable, bombarding Reigns relentlessly. He scored two century breaks and three 60+ breaks, winning every frame convincingly with a 5-1 score to advance to the quarterfinals!
Lü Haotian faced world champion Bingham. Lü started strong, winning the first two frames for a dream beginning. Bingham fought back to level at 2-2, but Lü responded with two 50+ breaks, winning two more frames to pull ahead again. Bingham chipped away points to close to 3-4. In the eighth frame, Lü sealed the match with a 50+ break, defeating Bingham 5-3 and moving into the quarterfinals!

With that, the quarterfinal lineup is set. The matchups are: Ding Junhui versus Murphy in a fierce battle among the top five players, Lü Haotian challenging Mark Williams, O’Sullivan facing Gary Wilson, and Puran clashing with Wells in a dark horse showdown. Looking forward to thrilling contests ahead. Let’s go!
