The AFC homepage acknowledged that Vietnam’s national team successfully leveraged their numerical advantage to win against Nepal in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
The AFC homepage reported on coach Kim Sang Sik’s team victory on October 9: "Vietnam overcame a determined Nepal side to win 3-1 in the final round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers in Group F, held on Thursday."
The AFC added: "Sanish Shrestha equalized after Nguyễn Tiến Linh’s opening goal before Nepal was reduced to 10 men just before halftime, and Vietnam secured the victory with second-half goals from Phạm Xuân Mạnh and Nguyễn Văn Vĩ."
Vietnam’s national team defeated Nepal 3-1.
The AFC highlighted Tiến Linh’s goal and Nepal’s equalizer: "Vietnam dominated the match from the start, and their early pressure paid off in the 9th minute when Tiến Linh scored. Nevertheless, Nepal showed strong spirit and equalized in the 17th minute thanks to Shrestha’s goal."
The AFC website also mentioned Nepal playing with one less player after Laken Limbu was shown a red card for fouling Hai Long: "The turning point occurred in first-half stoppage time when Laken Limbu was sent off, forcing Nepal to face a significant challenge for the rest of the match."
According to the AFC, coach Kim Sang Sik’s team made excellent use of their two-player advantage. Goals from Xuân Mạnh and Văn Vĩ helped Vietnam clinch the win. "Vietnam took advantage of their numerical superiority to retake the lead with Xuân Mạnh’s goal in the 67th minute, and Văn Vĩ sealed the victory five minutes later, putting the game beyond Nepal’s control," the AFC homepage wrote.
