Vietnam national team resumes training, ready for the rematch against Nepal

On October 11 afternoon, the Vietnam team resumed practice at Thong Nhat Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City), gearing up for the upcoming second leg match against Nepal in the Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers scheduled for October 14.

This afternoon (October 11), after a day off, the Vietnam national team came back to the training ground to kick off preparations for their second leg match against Nepal in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifying round. The first session started at 5:00 PM at Thong Nhat Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City) with an enthusiastic and highly focused atmosphere.

According to the plan, Coach Kim Sang Sik’s squad will have a total of three training sessions before the match: two at Thong Nhat Stadium (on October 11 and 13) and one at Military Zone 7 Stadium (on October 12). During the first two sessions, the Korean head coach will assign a player to represent the team in media interviews. The official press conference before the second leg against Nepal is scheduled for October 13.

Before entering this training phase, Vietnam secured a 3-1 victory over Nepal in the first leg and Coach Kim Sang Sik allowed a full day off for recovery. Instead of staying in Binh Duong, the entire team moved to Ho Chi Minh City to facilitate preparations for the match at Thong Nhat Stadium.

The relaxation time in the city named after Uncle Ho also helped the players relieve pressure after intense training days. A group of players took the opportunity to tour Ho Chi Minh City on a double-decker bus, visiting many famous landmarks and enjoying the vibrant nightlife of the city.

Meanwhile, some other players chose to rest at the hotel or took the chance to meet family and friends. Regardless of how they relaxed, all maintained a professional attitude and readiness for the rematch against Nepal, which will take place at 7:30 PM on October 14.

After three matches, Vietnam currently holds 6 points, ranking second in Group F, 3 points behind Malaysia. However, this ranking may change if the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) reaches a conclusion regarding allegations that Malaysia fielded ineligible naturalized players. In this context, Coach Kim Sang Sik’s team aims to secure another win to strengthen their position and keep their chance to compete for the top spot in the group.
