The vice-captain of the Vietnam national team, French-Vietnamese player Cao Penant Quang Vinh, is very happy and relaxed as he prepares for the upcoming rematch against Nepal on October 14th. The defender from Hanoi Police Club also revealed that the team will make tactical adjustments.
After a day of rest, at 5:00 PM on October 11th, the Vietnam team held their first training session to prepare for the rematch against Nepal in Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
During this session, coach Kim Sang Sik allowed about 20 minutes at the start for the media to cover mainly the warm-up period.
Afterwards, when moving on to tactical training, media access was restricted as per regulations.
In a pre-training interview, vice-captain and French-Vietnamese defender Cao Penant Quang Vinh said: "I am very proud and happy. Wearing the Vietnam jersey feels truly great. My teammates welcomed me warmly, helping me quickly integrate, feel comfortable, and more confident. I am very pleased with how we played in the last match.
Nepal defended solidly and counter-attacked quickly, causing us some difficulties. But the whole team controlled the game well, especially defensively. I am satisfied with the collective performance.
During the break, coach Kim told us to be patient. The entire team needs to move the ball faster, maintain the tempo, and capitalize on opportunities. We managed to do that and scored two more goals in the second half. Vietnam has many talented and smart players, making coordination very smooth.
Currently, we haven’t discussed the 3-1 victory further. I believe in the upcoming training sessions, the coaching staff will make additional tactical adjustments. We played well but need to be more aggressive in defensive transitions. When losing possession, the whole team must press harder to regain control as quickly as possible."
Quang Vinh appeared quite relaxed mentally as he prepared with the Vietnam team for the rematch against Nepal and promised to answer future interviews in Vietnamese.
